Market recap, 6 November 2026: Nifty 50 reclaims 25,000, Sensex crosses 81,000 for best week in six years
Nifty 50 closed at 25,030.35, up 493.75 points or 2.01 per cent. BSE Sensex ended at 81,028.02, gaining 1,718.01 points or 2.17 per cent, a seventh straight session of gains. Across the week Nifty 50 rose about 8.6 per cent and BSE Sensex about 8.8 per cent, their strongest weekly performance in six years. Global technology shares were weak over the same period, but Indian markets held up as a bounce in information technology stocks and continued domestic institutional flows offset most of the drag. One note of context: even after this week, both benchmarks were still below their start-of-year levels for 2026, down roughly 4.2 per cent and 4.9 per cent respectively. A very good week can still leave a long way to go. Figures are the official end-of-session close values from NSE and BSE.
